There are always ghosts in a stadium opener — a spiritual encounter that occurs when asphalt and steel show up at a christening. The stage was set for Soccer City, USA to chart off on new history. Then 6 minutes passed and the left foot of Carlos Vela exorcised the newly upgraded Providence Park of its Timbers spirit.
An errant pass by goal keeper Jeff Attinella led the LA Captain to slot away the opening goal. LA fans, who had arrived in droves all weekend long, celebrated in traditional Beer Shower fashion, this time with IPA and Tillamook dairy product raining from the sky.

The hits keep on coming
The slugfest between the Western Conference clubs continued across 90 minutes with sustained pressure and physicality resulting in considerable friction between teams and supporters. Chants of “We’ll sing for you Timbers” and “Mighty PTFC” were met with “Dale Black and Gold “, “Jump For LA Football Club” and the launch of the song known as “LO LO”
Each Away Day has served as an opportunity to expand on what 90 MIN+ means to an LAFC supporter. Portland is famed as a city in love with their teams. They did not disappoint. Every bar and restaurant was decked out in Timber green. The creeping feeling of existing in enemy territory was a fun and lively one as the Black and Gold dispersed through the city — breaking up the green as they saw.
Shoutout to The 3252 away travel coordinators for not only organizing another successful pre-match bar, but finding the bar that would host close to 400 supporters in a Champions League Final Viewing party earlier in the day.
When LA goes marching in
A weekend filled with the beautiful hikes through the mountains and the breweries of Rose City continued with our march to the match. For a half-mile the march took the 3252 through Burnside directly through the city. We were met by Timbers fans, standing outside the local haunts both flipping us off and passing high-fives.

Waiting and waiting and waiting
The one real low point was how long the 3252 were waiting outside the visitor’s entrance. For over an hour, we waited in what was essentially a narrow alleyway — a dangerous circumstance for supporters, especially the kids and parents who were battling the heat. LAFC staff did try to mitigate the situation by providing some water to our members.
The final tally of traveling support came in at 750+, more than double the support from last year’s trip to Portland. A reputation for strong travel is becoming the signature for LAFC and that’s in thanks to supporters in LA and abroad who choose this team time and time again as a club worth traveling for. Love.
At the end of 8 MINUTES OF STOPPAGE TIME :/ the 3-2 scoreline rang through the new Providence Park. A piece of the Black & Gold forever preserved in the city of Roses.
“LO LO LO LO LO LO LO LO”
