Drumming Up Support

“In the City of Angels /
In Black and Gold /

Where we will FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT /
For LAFC!”

Supporters have gathered in the shadows of the currently under-construction Banc of California stadium workshopping chants in preparation for Los Angeles Football Club’s MLS debut.

Hundreds within The 3252 could be heard far down Figueroa street and MLK boulevard as we practiced our English and Spanish anthems. Drums of all sizes - including some larger than our kids - could be heard echoing through the stadium and construction site.

Each session is an opportunity for longtime supporters and newcomers alike to come together and grow the soccer culture in Los Angeles, turning the North End into a force to be reckoned with.

“You have so many elements of the supporter culture coming together,” 3252 member Sal Reyes said. “LAFC hasn’t even kicked a ball yet.”

LAFC players, including Jordan Harvey, Joao Moutinho and Tristan Blackmon, have also made appearances at previous sessions.

“You made me feel at home since day one and I will forever be grateful for that,” Moutinho said.

Just as the LAFC players are practicing for the pitch, supporters are preparing to stand and chant the full 90 minutes.

LAFC just built a Formula 1 car and The 3252 are fine-tuning the engine, Reyes said.
